Occupational Therapy Tips for Greenhouse and Field Operations
This guide was produced as part of a service-learning project for Not Forgotten Outreach, a grass roots veterans non-profit organization in Taos, New Mexico.
The crew at NFO are involved in farming with the results of their efforts sought after by other community businesses and their own Gold Star Retreat center.
They are also involved in adaptive sports by coordinating an annual ski retreat for veterans at the Taos Ski Valley.
The guide is filled with helpful tips that encompass modifications to
Reduce sensory stimuli when it is overwhelming
Increase proprioceptive input when focus is needed
Remain organized when managing tools and work is difficult due to challenges with focus
Ensure accessibility of the operations for those with different mobility needs
Provide alternative designs and adaptive equipment for those who have challenges related to physical ailments, such as chronic pain
